This race report comes a bit late. On October 18, I had the privilege of racing for TeamUSA in the ITU Duathlon World Championship in Adelaide, Australia. As this was a race in the southern hemisphere, October was early summer for Australia but the end of my race season. This posed a few unusual race challenges. Here’s how it went down. For the past five years, I have raced the Washington State Time Trial championships and my results each year follow an odd up-and-down pattern that usually reflects my level of dedication in preparing for the race. This year was no exception as it was a down year. Here’s what happened.
For a few months now, my friend Mary Craig and I have been planning to race Duathlon Nationals in St. Paul, Minnesota. After a long flight in, we made it on Thursday and raced on Saturday. Here’s a race report. Continue reading
Last week, a few friends and I met up in Maui for a mid-winter training camp. Here’s a quick review of what we did– and how I dug myself into a nice deep hole.
As I write this race report, I just flew over Seward Park here in Seattle. I’m on a one-night business trip to Washington, DC. I’ll fly in, attend a meeting tomorrow morning, meet some business colleagues over lunch and in the early afternoon, and then catch the evening flight back to Seatac. Hopefully, I’ll have time to get an easy run in tomorrow morning. Continue reading
Today, Mary and I were down in Tenino, Washington to race the Washington State TT Championship. This is a great event hosted by South Sound Velo. This is the fourth(?) time that I’ve done this race. For Mary, it was her first time trial. My goal was to come under an hour (I rode it in 58:59) and Mary’s goal was to break 20mph (and she rode 20.6 mph), so all in all, it was a great day. Here is a quick pdf of the overall results. My time was good for 8th position out of 19 in my M40-49, Category 4-5 age group. Middle of the pack– exactly where I expected to be.
As I’m starting this blog a little late in the year, I thought I’d post a quick “catch up” post with my racing so far for 2014. As I’ve described in a separate post, I like to do a ton of racing. If anything, 2014 has a bit of a let down with a nagging case of plantar fasciitis– otherwise, I would have done a lot more! Continue reading
